Hello everyone! I am so excited to be back for my second year teaching at Legacy Hybrid Learning Company as the Developmental Kindergarten (DK) teacher! DK is a classroom full of learning fun, laughter & hugs! Each precious child will be mastering how to function in a classroom setting (possibly for the first time), they will also learn how to be a good friend & grow in education.
Here is some of my background information: I live in one of my favorite cities, the place where I grew up; Rochester! This place has so much rich history & art. There is so much to do & see! I graduated from Rochester College (University) earning an undergraduate degree in Social Work and Counseling. I have used this degree in various ways. One of the ways was by working with children in foster care & by working with children in the classroom.
In my free time, over the years & currently, I help facilitate grief support groups. I have led various types of loss groups ranging from children, teens & adults. I have had to go through some significant losses myself. Being involved with that group is a way that I love to give back. One of my passions is to help those who are struggling with emotional pain & trauma (childhood through adulthood) find hope & healing so they can thrive!
For fun, I love to create art. I am an artist. I also take an art class every month. Over the years, I have painted many items using various mediums & skills. It is a blast!
Teaching and working with children has always been special! I look forward to what the rest of the year will bring!

Hello, my name is Heidi Couch. I am a Kindergarten teacher at Oxford Hybrid Primary (OHP). I have been with OHP four years; my first year was spent teaching the 3rd and 4th grade split class and I have enjoyed being in the Kindergarten classroom the past three years. I hold a bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University. My career in education began over 30 years ago while working at the United Cerebral Palsy Center’s Preschool program. Since then, my journey through the education world has led me to work with elementary age children in various capacities including substitute teaching (long and short term) for over seven years while raising our three children. During those years, I longed for my own classroom and the ability to form relationships with my students as well as their families. OHP has offered me that opportunity and I have cherished every moment of my time here. The flexibility our program offers both parents and children is wonderful. I love being a part of children’s early learning years, watching them explore how to learn and make friends is such a joy. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Bryan for 30 years. As I stated, we have three fabulous adult children. Jared, who lives in Florida with our beautiful daughter-in-law Kara. Leah, is a student at Oakland University’s School of Nursing, and Elliana, our youngest who is an education major at Spring Arbor University. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with our family, reading, serving in our church, exercising, singing, and being in the great outdoors. I truly enjoy working with children and am passionate about being a positive role model and influence for the next generation.
My name is Rachel Bailey. I am a mom of 3, and have 15 years of experience in education, starting in the Millington Community School District, where I gained foundational experience with diverse students. I earned my teaching degree from Bay Mills College, giving a solid foundation in both the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ of teaching. My career began in Early Education, which built my holistic approach, but I later transitioned to Secondary Education to embrace the challenges of working with older students and complex subjects. A major focus is supporting students with learning differences. I am committed to creating inclusive, equitable learning environments by using differentiated instruction, assistive technology, and individualized strategies. My goal is to empower these students, helping them achieve their full potential in and out of the classroom. I began my personal and professional involvement with hybrid learning in 2018. Since then, I have actively developed and implemented models blending in-person and digital learning. I’m all about making hybrid learning awesome! I look at how we can nail the teaching, the tech, and the admin side of things to create experiences that are engaging and successful for everyone.
I am Janel Deaver, and my family has been a part of the Hybrid Primary Program since 2019. I currently work as the Site Supervisor at two of our locations, and I have taught ELA, Math, and Social Studies here. Before coming to Hybrid, I also worked as a reading tutor, ESL teacher, and reading and math intervention paraprofessional. I have also been homeschooling since 2006. After graduating with my Bachelor’s degree in English & Math, I worked both in public and private school settings. I found that the homeschool co-ops and hybrid learning groups were a better fit for our children’s education. I have 3 children enrolled with Hybrid and one that is graduating from college with their Mechanical Engineering degree this year.
Amie Gamache – Kindergarten & Electives Teacher
I’m delighted to be part of the Hybrid Learning Company, where I teach Kindergarten students at both our Legacy and Oxford campuses, along with several elective courses at each site.
My teaching journey spans over 27 years, including 9 years with Flint Community Schools and 18 years at local private schools. I’ve had the privilege of being with Legacy since we first opened our doors. In addition to my work here, I serve as adjunct faculty at Rochester Christian University, where I teach Early Childhood Education majors.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Michigan State University and a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Oakland University.
My path to Legacy has a personal story behind it. In Spring 2021, I stepped away from full-time teaching and chose to enroll my youngest daughter in Oxford Primary Hybrid for 5th grade. That year opened my eyes to the beauty of the hybrid homeschool model—the balance, the flexibility, and the individual learning it allows. When Legacy opened in Rochester, I was excited to instruct my favorite grade.
My husband Todd and I have been Lake Orion residents for over 30 years. We’re proud parents of three daughters: our oldest is an electrical engineer in Minnesota, our middle daughter recently graduated from Oakland University and is currently teaching English in South Korea, and our youngest is a high school student right here at Legacy.
I’m grateful to work in a model I believe in so deeply, and I look forward to partnering with your family in our program.

I am the Founder and Co-Director of The Hybrid Learning Company. I’m married to my wonderful husband, Lee. We have three amazing children, Dominic, Eden and Maranda- all of which I have had the privilege to homeschool over the years!
My educational background is in Social Work. As I worked on completing an internship at Daniel Axford Elementary in 2004 I was employed there as the Family Service Coordinator for the Head Start Program. This job allowed me to work closely with families of preschoolers and help meet their needs as well as coordinate programs and events for them. My background in preschool education and social work as well as the years spent homeschooling my own children were a wonderful preparation to walk through the door God opened for me to start the Hybrid Program in 2018. I truly enjoy pioneering this new pathway of education and cannot wait to watch it continue to grow as more and more families learn about the freedom and academic creativity that hands on hybrid schooling provides!
I’m Hollee Keel. In June of 2020, I retired from 30 years of teaching in Oak Park, Michigan. I taught grades 1-5, primarily first grade for the last 10 years. In the fall of 2020, I started teaching at Oxford Hybrid Primary School as I was not quite ready to “fully” retire.
I have taught 3 rd grade science, reading, math and social studies, developmental kindergarten and kindergarten science, first grade reading and fourth grade reading. It is an absolute pleasure working with smaller groups of students after teaching with 25-30 students in a class! I live in Metamora, Michigan with my husband and three dogs. My daughter is married and lives in Lapeer, Michigan with her family. During my free days, I help my 92 year -old mother by grocery shopping, doing laundry, driving to doctor appointments and playing cards. She is a retired elementary teacher as well and inspired me to follow in her footsteps. She still gives me pointers. I love to work in my perennial gardens, camp “glamp” with my husband, and sing with the worship team at Lakepoint Community church. My husband and I are currently in the process of building a new house in Metamora with some extra property for our dogs to run. Retirement is turning out to be very busy and satisfying!
